LEROY – A LeRoy police officer will undergo medical treatment after being injured in a late-night arrest.

Around 11:40 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to Chestnut St. on the Interstate 74 overpass for a report of an intoxicated man.

The man, Trystan Vink, 19, of Winnebago, Neb., attempted to run away from the officers. When they caught up with him, there was a struggle as they attempted to arrest Vink. One officer sustained injuries to his wrist and knees and is seeking medical treatment.

Vink was arrested for illegal consumption of alcohol, resisting a police officer and aggravated battery of a police officer. He’s in the McLean County Jail awaiting a bond appearance.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
