Bloomington police investigating attempted carjacking

BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington police are investigating an attempted carjacking on Veterans Parkway late Sunday afternoon.

Police report a women told them a man approached her vehicle in the 2100 block of N. Veterans Parkway with a handgun and demanded her vehicle. Police say a witness intervened and helped the woman escape. The man ran from the scene.

The incident occurred at about 4 p.m. Sunday.

The suspect is described as a man likely in his 50s with short gray hair, standing about 5’10” with a thin build.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bloomington police at 309-434-2359. You can also call Crimestoppers at 309-828-1111 where a reward of up to $1,000 is possible for information leading to an arrest and indictment.
