BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington businessman wants to bring a business approach to county government.
The County Board on Tuesday named Ryan Scritchlow, 34, to the District 4 seat vacated by Rich Buchanan last month.
“I’m a fiscal conservative and I think the County Board has been run very well,” Scritchlow said. “I just am looking to find out how county government works.”
Scritchlow owns a landscaping and construction business and has served the last five years on the Bloomington Planning Commission.
“I would like the county to continue to run more in line with a business,” Scritchlow said. “I want that very tight purse strings.”
He was chosen from among five Republican candidates for the seat. The county was required to replace the Republican Buchanan with someone from the same party.
