A middle-aged man, a toddler, and infant are dead, and a fourth person is believed to be injured in what authorities believe was an arson fire at a home in northeast Bloomington.
Bloomington Police and the city’s fire department were called to a house on Brittany Court about three this morning.
“We feel that the fire was intentionally set, but isolated and there’s no reason at this time to believe that there are any threats to public safety,” said Chief Heffner.
Police Chief Brendan Heffner declined to answer questions at a noon-time news conference because he did not want to jeopardize the investigation.
The chief did not mention at the news conference information about a fourth person. Fire Chief Brian Mohr confirmed one person was transported to a local hospital.
Coroner Kathy Davis said she will release the victims’ names after relatives are notified and after autopsies are performed on the three victims.
