NORMAL – McLean County Relay for Life reports it has reached its annual fundraising target for the first time in several years.
The relay made several changes to its annual event at Normal Community High School in June, including going back to a 24-hour event.
The relay has announced it has topped the $300,000 annual goal for cancer research and programs, that includes $25,000 raised by the annual Teen Relay For Life at Tri-Valley High School.
“Our relayers saw that goal and came together in a way that helped us achieve it,” Event Lead Catina Struble said. “Everybody knows we raise that money to find a cure, but it also goes for other uses. Those other uses include numerous programs – big and small – that help patients continue their fight against the disease every day.”
Next year’s event is slated to be held June 22-23.
