WJBC Extravaganza: Dominant Chili Bowl tastes sweet for Normal Community

NORMAL- Daylen Boddie threw four touchdown passes and rushed for 90 yards on 17 carries as the Ironmen rolled to a 50-16 win at Normal West.

NCHS (4-0) took advantage of six West (3-1) turnovers, one of them a fumble that was returned by Max Lowery for 35 yards and a score that gave the Ironmen a 29-7 lead in the second quarter.

Armani Forrest returned the ensuing kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown that trimmed the NCHS lead to 29-14 before the break.

Bloomington 22, Kankakee 16

Even with five turnovers the Bloomington Purple Raiders found a way to come back with less than two minutes in the fourth quarter against Kankakee.

The Purple Raiders (3-1) threw an interception with two minutes left in the contest.  On the ensuing possession Kankakee (2-2) would fumble, which allowed Bloomington quarterback Colton Sandage to connect with Holden Snyder for the game winning score.  Sandage ended with 142 yards and a touchdown, as the Bloomington defense also forced five turnovers.

Central Catholic 49, Olympia 12

Bloomington Central Catholic (4-0) led 14-12 early in the second quarter but then scored 28 unanswered points as they led 42 12 at the half.  Sa’mond Davis rushed for 154 yards and four scores in a whopping win over the Spartans (0-4).  Quarterback Max Moews threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns, while James Morris caught four passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns.

Rochester 43, U-High 7

The offense struggled for the Pioneers (1-3) as only two offensive possessions occurred in Rockets(4-0) territory.  Rochester’s Nic Baker connected on 13 of his 21 pass attempts and went for 226 yards and four scores..  U-High got production from Doug Holmes who ended the night 13-23 with 101 passing yards and a touchdown.

Eureka 21, Fieldcrest 13

The Knights (3-1) had a chance late in the fourth quarter down a score, but came up short on fourth down to fall against the Hornets (3-1).  Hornets quarterback Jacob Bachman rushed for 104 yards and a score, while Jacob Steffen had 30 yards rushing with a touchdown and interception.  Fieldcrest quarterback Cam Grandy passed for 159 yards and a touchdown, while he also rushed for 78 yards.

It was all Vikings (3-1) in a dominate display as they got 404 rushing yards, with Zach Woodring racking up 365 of those yards on the ground.  Woodring also finished with six touchdowns, as the Mustangs got their lone touchdown on a 67-yard run by Ryan Benton.
