PONTIAC – The merger of two emergency dispatching services in Livingston County has been seamless according to the new agency’s director.
LivCom 911 and Streator 911 merged in February to form the Vermilion Valley Regional Communications Joint Authority, or VCOM. Authority Director Randy Wittenberg said the merger should not have been noticeable to the public.
“There’s no difference in the services you’re receiving now. The services they were getting before we moved from LivCom to Vermilion Valley, there’s no difference,” Wittenberg said. “Actually, I think the services are highlighted a little bit better. We’re getting officers out the door faster and our equipment is better. Actually, I think we’ve been very fortunate here that we’ve had the financing to be able to do some of the things we’ve done. We’re just very fortunate.”
Wittenberg said the new agency has been fortunate to be able to finance the improvements.
The call center remains at the Livingston County Public Safety Complex on Lincoln Street in Pontiac.
