BLOOMINGTON – A judge has kept bond intact for two defendants charged in the murder of a woman who was found stabbed to death in Funks Grove last week.
McLean County Associate Judge David Butler appointed public defenders Monday to represent Christine Roush, 22, of Washington and Matthew Isbell, 20, of Marquette Heights as the two appeared in court via videolink from the McLean County Jail.
The two face murder charges for the death of Roush’s biological mother, Teresa Poehlman, 47, of East Peoria. The two were arrested on Friday. Roush faces a $4 million bond. Isbell’s bond remains at $3 million.
Poehlman’s body was found by two people walking the trail at Funks Grove Nature Preserve on July 2. Authorities haven’t disclosed a possible motive for the killings.
The two are due back in court on July 28 for an arraignment.
