URBANA – The FBI said it has located the car involved the disappearance of University of Illinois scholar Yingying Zhang, but the search continues for the young woman from China, who is believed to have been abducted earlier this month.
Authorities sent out a news release Tuesday afternoon, announcing they found the black Saturn Astra, but they won’t reveal where it was discovered. Security cameras showed Zhang getting into a car meeting that description on W. Clark St. and N. Goodwin Ave/ in Urbana about 2:04 p.m. on Friday June 9.
The discovery comes after the FBI and University of Illinois Police said they received numerous leads about the vehicle.
Investigators continue to ask for the public’s help for information that might lead to Zhang’s whereabouts. Anyone with information is asked to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALLFBI. The agency is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading authorities to Zhang’s whereabouts.
