McLean County Coroner: Missouri trucker died when semi struck cement median on I-55

Illinois State Police and the McLean County are investigating Thursday’s fatal semi accident on I-55, a mile north of the West Market Street exit.

It was a Missouri trucker who died from multiple blunt injuries near Bloomington on Thursday. McLean County Coroner Kathy Davis on Friday released preliminary results of an autopsy, in addition to the name of the man killed on I-55, a mile north of the W. Market St. exit.

Davis identified the man as David Weekley, 43, of Hannibal, Missouri.

Davis said Weekley was the driver and only occupant of the semi, which hit a cement median about 1:40
Thursday afternoon. Davis is awaiting toxicology tests which will indicate whether Weekley had drugs or alcohol in his system.

State Police and the coroner are investigating the accident.
