BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington Police have arrested a man and a woman from Indiana suspected of a crime spree netting them thousands of dollars in cash and merchandise purchased with stolen credit cards.
37-year old Brent Heitz of Indianapolis and 37-year old Desiree Gill, also known as Desiree Jordan, of Elmwood, Indiana face multiple burglary and theft by deception charges and use of forged credit and debit cards.
Police responded to a call of suspicious activity at Eastland Mall, and officers said they found the pair a short time later loading a van with merchandise bought with a stolen credit card. That card and a purse had reportedly been stolen from a car at a local park.
Police said a follow-up investigation linked the two to the theft of a second purse at another local park on May 5th, which resulted in the loss of more than 11-thousand dollars in cash and merchandise from area stores using stolen bank and credit cards.
Police said the woman was able to withdraw large amounts of money from victims’ accounts using stolen bank cards.
The arrests happened last Thursday, but details were just released. The investigation continues, and anyone with information is asked to call Bloomington Police or McLean County Crimestoppers.
