By Nick McClintock

BLOOMINGTON- The McLean County Chamber of Commerce and Bloomington-Normal Economic Development Council have some large checks to cash, courtesy of car manufacturer Mitsubishi.

The Mitsubishi Foundation, along with Ryan Gremore with O’Brien Mitsubishi helped to present to checks that totaled $40,000 covering a multitude of programs for the Chamber and EDC.

Charlie Moore, who is the President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, says the group is very excited for the opportunities this opens up. He says the Make Your Money Mean More Program, which has been ongoing for several years and promotes local spending, will be getting a large bump. “What we are doing is kicking this up several notches,” Moore said. “Because we want the community to understand the positive benefits of local buying.”

Programs included in the checks provided today include those helping with STEM education, as well as workforce development.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
