Lahood faces tough questions at town hall

By News Partner WMBD-TV

WASHINGTON- Another contentious meeting took place last night between a congressman and his constituents. Congressman Darin LaHood took some questions in front a crowd pf nearly 800 at the Five Points in Washington.

Lahood fielded around 35 questions, ranging from the Affordable Care Act, to President Trump’s recent actions. Some pressed Lahood on what he would to get the President to release his tax returns, while others accused the first term Congressman of just voting along party lines.

Lahood said he is worried about the future of some popular options of the ACA. “When I look at the ACA or Obamacare, There are a couple of things in there that have been beneficial and work. Pre-existing conditions is an area that we need to protect and I’m supportive of that.”

Lahood says he was happy to see the large turnout at the town hall, and looks forward to more in the future.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
