BLOOMINGTON – Now that Bloomington has its annual budget in place, city officials are hoping state lawmakers can get a spending plan resolved soon.
The city council is meeting with state legislators on Monday. City Manager David Hales said the city is waiting on funding for widening the Fox Creek Road bridge.
“It’s a very significant safety concern for us because it was built only for vehicles and not for pedestrians and others,” Hales said.
Hales said funding for the Hamilton Road extension is also on the city’s wish list, a project that’s intended to alleviate traffic off Veterans Parkway.
Republican State Sens. Bill Brady and Jason Barickman are scheduled to attend the meeting along with state reps. Dan Brady and Keith Sommer.
“We want to remind them please do not make to the state’s shared revenue because we rely on it,” Hales said. “Otherwise, we would have to take drastic action to replace it.”
The public meeting will be at 5:15 p.m. at the Bloomington Police Department’s Obsorn Room, 305 S. East St.
