Duckworth ready for Gorsuch filibuster

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth is prepared to support a filibuster effort against the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.

Duckworth on Sunday night announced her opposition to Gorsuch based on her belief that Gorsuch had put corporate profits ahead of people in the past and would continue to do so. She also cited differences with him on his rulings on disability rights, civil rights, reproductive rights and other issues.

Duckworth also noted Gorsuch did not meet with her in person and says he cancelled a previously scheduled meeting with her.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to vote on the Gorsuch nomination this week.
