Man sought in armed robbery near ISU campus

NORMAL – Police are investigating an armed robbery at University Liquors near University and Beaufort streets in Normal.

The incident occurred about 3:30 Thursday afternoon. Police say the suspect displayed a handgun an demanded money, then ran northbound out of the store with cash. No employees were injured according to police.

Police say the man is between 5-4 and 5-8 with a medium build, wearing an orange mask, dark hoodie, dark pants and white tennis shoes.

The incident triggered an alert from Illinois State University since the location is at the edge of campus, stating a person was seen with a weapon. ISU says people should go about their normal business but be alert.
