Liquor commission recommends approval of Fresh Thyme Farmers Market liquor license

BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Liquor Commission on Tuesday recommended approval of a liquor license for Fresh Thyme Farmers Market.

The store is preparing to open at the former site of Cub Foods on Veterans Parkway in Bloomington.

The license still needs approval by the city council. It would allow Fresh Thyme to sell packaged alcohol for consumption off the premises.

Tuesday also marked the official return of the commission to a three member group. New liquor commissioners Jack Bataoel and Lindsay Powell introduced themselves during the commission’s regular meeting.

“I think they will be, you know, really great additions to the liquor commission,” said Mayor Tari Renner. “And I’m glad that the Attorney General’s officer ruled that it was OK to have a three member liquor commission.”

Renner had reduced the number of liquor commissions to just himself after an alleged open meetings violation.
