BLOOMINGTON – The LIFE Center for Independent Living in Bloomington is holding a community advocacy training class for adults with disabilities who live in McLean, Livingston, Ford or DeWitt counties.
Participants will learn about how they can affect community change, how to communicate with elected officials, how to actively participate in the legislative process, advocacy skills, disability rights laws and the disability rights movement. As part of the learning experience, the class includes a trip to Springfield. The class and trip are free.
Classes will run on Mondays from April 3 through May 22 from 3 to 4:45 p.m. Accommodations will be provided upon request. The application deadline is March 24.
