NORMAL – Restaurants, hospitals, schools, daycare centers and nursing homes are among the 200 businesses in Normal that are affected by the town’s boil order.

“It’s a massive undertaking right now with everything in the town of Normal even a dentist office that uses the water for rinsing your mouth,” said Linda Foutch, Food Program Supervisor with the McLean County Health Department.

Foutch added restaurants should consider using disposable dishwear while the order is in effect.

“This is a huge impact it affects the soda fountains, direct lines to coffee makers, ice makers, water fountains, hand washing at a sink,” Foutch said.

Some restaurants plan to stay closed until the order is lifted sometime Saturday.
