BLOOMINGTON – The City of Bloomington is allowing Tony Roma’s, the restaurant attached to the Chateau Hotel and Conference Center, to remain open for the time being.

The city announced Wednesday it was forcing the Chateau to close until it fixed its non-operational fire alarm system, but at that time had yet to decide the status of Tony Roma’s.

A contractor had first informed the city of the faulty fire alarm system at the Chateau.

The timeline for when the Chateau will be allowed to re-open is still unknown.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
