BLOOMINGTON – The Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal has received a $30,000 grant from the Comcast Foundation.

The grant expands the My.Future technology initiative. Boys & Girls Club CEO Tony Morstatter said it’ll help expose their members to technology they might not be exposed to otherwise.

“We’ve talked about using these funds to develop a recording studio,” said Morstatter. “We’re looking at also doing some media type programs with our kids.”

Morstatter said the group has partnered with Comcast on multiple occasions.

“Their employees, they have a day that they give back to the community. They come out, they partner with us, our members and we just do a service day,” he said.

Since 2011, Comcast and the Comcast Foundation have dedicated more than $240 million in cash and in-kind support to fund digital readiness initiatives nationwide.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
