BLOOMINGTON – After learning the building has a non-operational fire alarm system, the City of Bloomington has required the Chateau Hotel and Conference Center to close until the situation is resolved.
The city was informed of the situation by a contractor. The timeline for the building re-opening is currently unknown.
“My understanding is that they have a pretty old system here, and there aren’t really parts available. That would require the installation of a new system,” said Community Development Director Tom Dabareiner. “I’ll get a better sense of how long that will take, hopefully, by the end of the day tomorrow (Thursday).”
The city is looking into the status of Tony Roma’s fire alarm system. Those results are expected Thursday. Tony Roma’s is attached to the hotel. The city explained due to the restaurant’s first floor location and other factors, it’s being allowed to remain open the remainder of Wednesday.
