BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Health Department is requesting proposals for calendar year 2018 developmental disability program funding.
Funding applications can be found on the health department’s website and are accessible until March 29. Behavioral Health Division Manager at the McLean County Health Department Laura Beavers explained the program aims to help people with development disabilities experience a normal life.
“It really allows people with disabilities to live like everyone should live – without that stigma or discrimination and so forth,” said Beavers.
There is approximately $650,000 available in developmental disability funding for calendar year 2018 in McLean County. Beavers said, despite state funding being limited, funding that is received for the program helps organizations provide health services.
“This funding helps solidify those gaps for those organizations to provide that key service for an individual,” Beavers explained. “So with limited state funding we’ve seen a significant impact with what we’re providing.”
A provider meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 9 a.m. for those interested in applying for 2018 funding. The McLean County Health Department has worked to improve the mental health of McLean County residents since 1975.
