CLINTON – The main person responsible for getting legislation done to keep open the nuclear plants in the Quad Cities and Clinton is Gov. Bruce Rauner, according to State Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet).
“I can’t even begin to tell you how much Governor Rauner’s leadership meant to this bill,” Rose said.
Rose spoke along with Rauner at Clinton High School Wednesday, where the legislation was signed by Rauner. Rose explained with the bill electric rates will be cheaper in Illinois.
“You can’t lose the amount of supply you had on this grid, with the same amount of demand, without prices going up,” said Rose. “We’re doing the right thing here to, not just for Clinton, not just for DeWitt County, not just for Central Illinois, but for all of Illinois.”
Rose added there was more activity on this bill in the last week than there had been in the previous 18 months, and Rauner’s leadership is the reason for that.
