Bloomington man gets 40 years in shooting

BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington man who shot another man in a dispute over a dice game faces 40 years in prison.

McLean County Judge Scott Drazewski sentenced Kelvon Wilkes, 24, on Wednesday after Wilkes was convicted of attempted murder.

Wilkes shot a man in the 900 block of West Front Street in 2014. The victim survived.

The prosecution asked for a 45-year sentence, citing Wilkes’ two previous felony convictions. The defense asked for 21 years.
