Eureka – Bond will remain the same for a Bloomington woman charged with murdering her husband last month in Woodford County.

Sarah Mellor is accused of stabbing her husband to death on October 15th at a campground near Carlock. Mellor has pleaded not guilty.

The 30 year old former Bloomington High School teacher had asked a judge to lower her $1,000,000 bond.  The judge did not allow the request and reportedly felt Mellor may be a danger to herself.

Mellor’s attorneys do not feel she is a danger to the public.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
