BLOOMINGTON – Monday was the final day for candidates to file nominating petitions for local municipal elections.
Five candidates filed for Bloomington mayor: Incumbent Tari Renner, Ian Bayne, Robert Fike, Diana Hauman, and Kevin Lower.
It’ll be a two-person race for Ward One Alderman as Jamie Mathy will face Susan Feldkamp.
Four filed for Ward 3, those being incumbent Mboke Mwilambwe, Gary Lambert, Bob Clay, and J. Balmer.
For Ward 5 alderman, incumbent Joni Painter, Lupe Diaz and Jeffery Fox have all filed.
Sonny Garcia is challenging incumbent Scott Black in Ward 7.
In Ward 9, it’s a three-way race between Kimberly Bray, Greg Rodriguez, and Sheheryar Muftee.
In Normal, Chris Koos filed for a fourth term against Bloomington High School teacher Marc Tiritilli.
Four candidates filed for three at-large seats on the town council; incumbents Kevin McCarthy and Scott Preston and newcomers Ron Ulmer and Chemberly Cummings.
Longtime council member Cheryl Gaines plans to run for Normal Township Supervisor.
