BLOOMINGTON – Blue kid holiday trees are popping up around central Illinois.
Child Protection Network Spokesowoman Judy Brucker told WJBC’s Terry James you can buy an item listed on the tree and help a family in need.
“And they are paper ornaments that really ask for need items,” said Brucker. “We are not in competition with Make-A-Wish or Brotherhood Tree or anything like that. This is really for basic need items. So many of the families find their lives in absolute turmoil.”
Some of that turmoil may include sexual assault, child abuse, or other domestic violence. Brucker said the items needed are basic and include sheets, pillows, or even a bottle of shampoo.
