CLINTON – If the Illinois Legislature approves, there could be new life for the Clinton and Quad-Cities nuclear power plants.

That means Clinton City Administrator Tim Followell is cautiously optimistic.

“We all know at some point, I mean we have known this since the creation of the nuclear industry, that the life expectancy of a concrete structure that does what it does without modern technology moving beyond it, probably has a life expectancy,” said Followell. “We know there will be that date.”

An Illinois House committee approved the legislation last week.

It still needs approval from the full legislature.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
