ST. LOUIS – Illinois State’s Paige Jarsombeck has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, following standout performances last week at No. 24 Northwestern and at home against North Dakota.
The senior anchored the Redbird defense in a hard-fought loss at last Thursday. Jarsombeck and the rest of the defense combined to limit the Wildcats to only one goal. She also was able to get two shots on goal Sunday against North Dakota, as ISU took the win 2-0. Illinois State has yet to lose a match by more than a one-goal margin, while leading the MVC in shots per game and sitting third overall in the standings.
Jarsombeck and her teammates are back in action this week, traveling to Ypsilatni, Michigan, for a matchup against Eastern Michigan Friday, Sept. 16, before heading to DeKalb, Illinois, Sunday, Sept. 18 to face Northern Illinois.
