NORMAL – Police are issuing safety reminders after a college student was reportedly attacked and robbed while walking on Constitution Trail.

The student told police two men stole his wallet and ran away as he was walking the trail at about 1 a.m. Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to call Normal Police at (309) 454-9535 or McLean County Crime Stoppers at (309) 828-1111.

Police recommend traveling in groups, avoid going out alone at night, avoid wearing headphones, talking or texting on your phone, or anything that can distract you. Police say you should also travel only on well lit, busy pathways and streets.

The trail closes at 9 p.m. each night.
