2-alarm fire damages northeast Normal home

NORMAL – A 2-alarm fire on the northeast side of Normal Thursday morning damaged the roof and attic of a single story home.

The Normal Fire Department said crews responded to the fire at 1317 Ogelthorpe Ave. at 7:30 a.m. Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy fire in the attic and had to cut holes in the roof to allow heat and smoke to escape.

The department said the fire was under control in about 25 minutes and no one was injured. The cause is under investigation. Crews estimated the damage at $60,000.
