BLOOMINGTON – Six charities have been named as beneficiaries of this year’s Bruegala festival at the Corn Crib.
The annual beer and wine tasting festival is sponsored by the Bloomington-Normal Jaycees.
The McLean County Museum of History, Marcfirst, Community Health Care Clinic, Max’s Miles Foundation, the Tool Library, and Wish Bone Canine Rescue have been selected out of the 24 charities which applied.
“That’s the most that we’ve ever had,” said organizer Jennifer Brown. “So you could very clearly see that there are a lot of organizations that are in need and are just trying to find ways to supplement that income.”
Brown told WJBC’s Terry James they were able to give charities a total of $69,000 through last year’s event.
It will be the second year for the event at the Corn Crib. Leslie Romagnoli, another organizer, said they’re hoping to make improvements on what was a successful debut at the venue in 2015.
“This year, we’re looking to add some more food trucks. There was some bottle necks and some lines (last year),” said Romagnoli. “We’re also hoping to make entry into the event a little bit smoother – trying to make those lines a little more fluid.”
Bruegala will take place on Aug. 26 and 27.
