McLean County judge issues 36-year sentence for series of sexual assaults

BLOOMINGTON – A man, who repeatedly assaulted a young girl, was sentenced in McLean County court on Tuesday to 36 years in prison.

Judge Paul Lawrence handed down the sentence for Nelson Lucero-Molina. Lucero-Molina, 35, pleaded guilty in March to three counts of sexual assault. Prosecutors said he knew the victim.

The prosecution had asked for a 36-year sentence for Lucero-Molina, who is in the U.S. illegally. Prosecutors say the man will be deported to Guatemala when he gets out of prison.
