BLOOMINGTON – The Cruisin’ with Lincoln on 66 Visitors Center celebrated its first anniversary Monday on the Museum Square in downtown Bloomington.
The Sound of Illinois Chorus helped kick off the celebration, which is located at the south side of the old McLean County Courthouse. The museum had 18,000 plus visitors in its first year which surpassed the initial projected number.
“We thought initially, conservatively, that we would see 20,000 new visitors in the first three years,” Museum Director of Marketing and Community Relations Jeff Woodard said.
Woodard said the museum can assist visitors, who are looking for places to dine or things to do in and around downtown.
“We want to try to open up this up to the community, especially for our downtown neighbors,” said Woodard. “This is a resource that they can use and reach out to their visitors.”
Woodard added the museum is busy redoing existing exhibits and adding new ones along the way.
