BLOOMINGTON- A new program could being cleaner energy to homes and businesses of Bloomington-Normal.

An agreement with the  with the Midwest Renewable Energy Association will bring their solar group buy program to the Bloomington-Normal area. MREA’s program will work with home, business, and farm owners throughout McLean County to bring Solar power systems at a volume discounted price.

Michael Brown, Executive Director the Ecology Action Center, says that a residents can get a solar power system installed at their home or business for fairly cheap. “The more people get on board, the more we can leverage a cheaper price for everyone.”

Based on different factors, an up to 20 kilowatt system could be installed at a home or business. Brown calls that size system “moderately sized for a home.”

Brown knows that many people will have questions about solar power, so the Ecology Action Center will be providing educational “Solar Power Hours”  throughout the twin cities over the next few months with Solar Power experts. The next one will come up Tuesday, April 26th at 6pm at the Unitarian Church in Bloomington, and another at the Normal Public Library May 16th at 6pm as well.
