Anita was born July 7, 1930 in Pontiac; the daughter of Frank and Mildred (Hack) Russell. She married Anthony Walters in 1950. He died in an accident in 1955. She later married John M. Thompson on February 23, 1957 in Pontiac. John passed away on January 28, 2010. Her parents, one sister, Doris Myles and one daughter; Vicki Lynn Thompson also preceded her in death.
Survivors include five sons; Gary Thompson of Virginia Beach, VA; Ron Thompson of Bloomington; Larry Thompson of Willowbrook; Brian (Peggy) Thompson, Kalamazoo, MI; Darren Thompson of Fairbury; one daughter; Julie Thompson, Ely, NV; one brother, Donnie Russell of Wilmington; one sister, Judy (Steve) Mallot of Portland ME; and eight grandchildren.
Anita was a 1947 graduate of Pontiac Township H.S. Physical fitness and staying active was important to Anita. Whether it was riding her bike, a brisk walk, aerobics or a workout at the gym, she didn’t like to sit still.
Anita loved her family and supported her children and grandchildren in whatever activities they were involved in. She instilled in them a strong work ethic and encouraged each of them to further their education. Every summer she planned and organized a 2 week vacation for her family to be together. Those memories will forever live in our hearts.
Online condolences left for the family and a guest book registry is available at www.duffypilsmemorialhome.com.
