BLOOMINGTON- There are numerous species of animals in the world that are close to going extinct.

The Miller Park Zoo in Bloomington made news in the past week for having rare San Clemente goats. Director Jay Tetzloff said the zoo has also had a few years of river otter pups and snow leopards.

“Lat year only two zoos in the North American Continent out of 110 had a River Otter birth,” said Tetzloff. “We take a lot of pride in that. Sometimes there’s a little luck and we’ll take that too.”

Tetzloff said the number of animals at the zoo has nearly doubled since he took over operations in 2009.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
