BLOOMINGTON – McLean County Sheriff Jon Sandage had good and bad news about crime in the county during 2015.
“We had between a 6 and 7 percent decrease in crime in McLean County for 2015,” said Sandage. “However, a 46 percent increase in drug related arrests.”
Sandage said the county is actively combating drug offenses.
“We’ve been doing a lot more proactive patrols. Starting this week, our second K-9 unit is hitting the streets,” said Sandage. “We got a K-9 through the Buffet Foundation that provided the K-9, the training and a fully loaded vehicle at no cost to the taxpayers at all.”
Sandage added close proximity to two major interstates – I74 and I55 – means more drugs moving through the county.
