NORMAL – Illinois State will be raising money for cancer research at its women’s basketball game on Friday night.
ISU coach Barb Smith said there will be multiple ways you can contribute to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund during the ‘Play for Kay’ game against Indiana State which starts at 7 p.m.

“You can sponsor the runners, you could also donate money if you like,” Smith said. “We are hoping to raise a lot of money.”
Yow was a coach at North Carolina State who fought breast cancer three times before she died in 2009. One of her close friends was former ISU coach Stephanie Glance, who is now director of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
At tip at Redbird Arena, treadmill, bike, and triathlete participants will begin their respective efforts to continue to raise money. Treadmill participants will each be assigned five-minute time blocks. Participants are able to honor their time commitments made to sponsors to fundraise for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
According to ISU athletics, the fund has contributed just shy of $4 million to support cancer research.
