Stanley W. Warsaw, 95, of Normal formerly of Anchor and Saybrook, passed away 11:50 a.m., Jan. 28 at Heritage Health, Normal.

His funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Anchor. The Reverend Stephen Goodwin will be officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Anchor. Military rites will be accorded by the Saybrook VFW.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Monday at the church.

Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to. St. John’s Lutheran Church, memorial fund.

Stanley was born May 28, 1920 in Foosland the son of Christopher Gottlieb and Hermine “Minnie” Bertha Beetzel Warsaw.

He married Glenna H. HassebrockBielfeldt on May 30, 1947 in Anchor. She died April 26, 1984.

Surviving are his daughter, Rona (Bill) Graham of Bloomington; sister, Alma Hassebrock, Colfax; two step-granddaughters; four step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.

Stanley was a WWII veteran having served in General Patton’s Third Army and received two Bronze Battle Stars.

Before retiring, he farmed in the Anchor and Saybrook areas. He was a member of the Saybrook VFW. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Illinois basketball fan.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Anchor. He served on the church council, was a Sunday School superintendent, and sang in the choir.

Stanley will be fondly remembered for his kind heart and sense of humor.
