BLOOMINGTON – United Way of McLean County is making a pre-holiday push for its annual fundraising campaign.
The agency is in the midst of its ‘December Dash’ as it highlights the services offered by the more-than 60 programs it helps to fund.
Campaign co-chair Sonja Reece told WJBC’s Scott Laughlin she thinks of United Way as her financial advisor.
“They look at what we need in the community and they look at how the investments can work best,” Reece said. “I then plan through payroll deduction or I can do it through writing a check, and that investment goes to all those places and I get the best return on my money. I get a good place to live.”
The campaign hasn’t set a specific goal this year but is asking people to give eight percent more than last year. As of Dec. 3, the campaign had brought in $2.8 million.
