Both the Illinois State men’s and women’s basketball team open play tonight on WJBC 1230 AM and NASHicon 93.7 FM.
The men meet San Diego State in Viejas Arena where the Aztecs have won 30 of their last 31 games, while the women are at Bowling Green, Ohio.
The women’s game starts at 6 o’clock and the men’s broadcast begins with the pregame show at 8 with the play-by-play at 9 o’clock with Eric Stock and Mike Matthews. Zach Dietmer has the call of the women’s contest.
San Diego State, a member of the Mountain West Conference and coached by ISU player and graduate Steve Fisher, returns a number of players from last year’s 27-9 team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth straight year. The Aztecs lost to eventual national champion Duke in the second round.
ISU returns three of five starters from last year’s 22-13 team that advanced to the second round of the National Invitation Tournament.
The ISU women’s basketball team looks to avenge a four-point loss to Bowling Green a year ago.
