BLOOMINGTON – Criminal proceedings against murder suspect Kirk Zimmerman have resumed now that he has a new attorney.

John Rogers of St. Louis was hired earlier this month after Zimmerman’s previous attorney, Stephanie Wong, was dismissed because she at one point represented three witnesses the state plans on calling to the stand. Those witnesses were being investigated as potential suspects at the time.

Rogers told Judge Scott Drazewski he intends to continue pursuing a motion to reduce bond and a motion to block Zimmerman’s bank records from being admitted into evidence. A hearing on those motions was scheduled for Nov. 9.

Zimmerman was arrested on murder charges in July for the shooting death of his ex-wife Pamela in November 2014.

Labor Day – Expanding voting rights for all

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
