BLOOMINGTON – Completion of the West Market Street railroad bridge project in Bloomington is being pushed back again.
Public Works Director Jim Karch says the new estimated finish date is Nov. 7. Karch explained since this is a state-run project, Bloomington has no control over when the work is done.
“We’re using just the information that’s been provided to us,” said Karch. “This really has had a negative impact on both residents and businesses. This has been a long standing closure that really has exceeded what originally intended.”
Karch said the detour on Route 9 has been working alright, but added Market Street is a key street for getting drivers to and from downtown.
The city council has passed a resolution urging the contractors to finish the work.
