BLOOMINGTON – Saturday’s Northern Exposure Music Festival in Bloomington will be moved inside the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts due to cold temperatures and the chance of rain showers throughout the afternoon.
BCPA Director Tina Salamone said the festival will still offer great food from local vendors and room to dance.
“I think it’ll be just as lovely inside, it’s just a different kind of show when you come in the building,” Salamone said. “And it’s not like we’re closing the outside. If people want to go outside in between acts, they’re welcome to do that. It’s just that we won’t have the concert outside.”
Salamone explained that Friday night and Saturday morning rain paired with strong winds were the main reason for moving the event indoors.
“We don’t know if it’ll keep raining on and on, but the wind is so cold,” said Salamone. “It could reach up to 30 MPH today. It’s so crisp out there and now the ground has this water in it and it’s going to stay there, so it’s going to be cold every time the wind comes.”
The festival gets underway at noon and will feature performances from The Locals, The Righteous Hillbillies, The Amazing Heeby Jeebies, Ambassadors to Earth and Grammy-nominated Liquid Soul.
