NORMAL – The United Auto Workers union has suspended its scheduled vote to strike at Mitsubishi Motors.
In a statement on the UAW Local 2488 Facebook page posted Wednesday night, union officials say ‘due to late bargaining advancements, the strike vote scheduled for Thursday has been suspended to a later date.’ It adds “We fully believe that we will have an agreement to present to the membership on Sunday.”
The union and automaker had agreed to a temporary extension of labor agreement – which is set to expire today. This as Misubishi plans to end production at the Normal plant on Nov. 30. A task force has been created to try and find a buyer for the plant.
