Bloomington Firefighters have out done themselves.

Bloomington Firefighters Union Vice President Clayton Matteson says the fill the boot drive for MDA raised $16,000 more than they have in any other year.

“I told my guys that I would be extremely proud of them if we hit $10,000 this year because that would double our yearly average up to that point and that was our goal,” said Matteson.

Nearly $24,000 dollars was raised this year. Firefighters across the nation take part in filling the boot for MDA.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
