BLOOMINGTON – There is more evidence that the West Nile Virus is spreading in McLean County.
The McLean County Health Department says a bird collected in northeast of Bloomington-Normal tested positive for the West Nile Virus. A mosquito pool collected from the Ellsworth area also tested positive for the virus. This is the second bird and second mosquito pool to test positive for West Nile Virus in Mclean County in 2015.
Residents are again being advised to limit time spent outdoors between dusk and dawn and to take precautionary measures to limit exposure to mosquitoes.
Some infected by West Nile Virus may not even know they have the virus. Others with severe medical conditions and compromised immune systems are most at risk.
