NORMAL – Fire crews in Normal made quick work of a blaze that started in a bathroom and kept it from spreading into the attic of a multi-unit townhouse.

Firefighters found smoke throughout the first floor of the home at 1404 Keller Road shortly after 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The fire was under control in about 20 minutes.

One of the seven units in the townhouse sustained moderate fire, smoke and water damage, totaling about $35,000.

No one was injured and the cause is under investigation. The American Red Cross of the Heartland was called to provide temporary lodging for the four people who were displaced.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
